Sturm: A unification would be a dream come true
Last Friday night, WBA Middleweight Super Champion Felix Sturm successfully defended his crown for the twelvth time against former WBC titlelist Sebastian Zbik in an All-German mega-fight at the Lanxess Arena In Cologne, Germany. The champion looked much better than in his previous outings against Matthew Macklin (a close split decision win) and Martin Murray (a draw) in scoring a ninth round stoppage win over his former stablemate Zbik. After an even start, Sturm got untracked in the third round and battered his challenger with his left jab and explosive combinations until Zbik and his corner decided to stop the bout after the ninth.

Sturm: I was a bit surprised when learning that the fight was over but everybody has to make such a decision himself and he did call it a day. He has to live with the loss and if he can, it’s fine. I felt that he became weaker round after round, especially from round five or six on. I gave him too much time in some situations because I didn’t want to make any big mistakes.
