I'd like to say the Nebraska volleyball team has regained the powerhouse form it showed earlier this season when the Huskers were ranked No. 1 in the country. I'd like to, but I can't. One, I just don't know. It's too early to tell. Two, from my obstructed-view seat way above the NU Coliseum court, I caught just glimpses of Nebraska's 25-10, 25-16, 25-13 victory against Jackson State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. Glimpses, I tell you. That's kind of like what Husker coach John Cook has seen of his team's dominance during the last month. New-age words such as "synergy" and "chemistry" are often used to describe how well a team is playing together. What once was effortless for Nebraska is now requiring maximum effort, both mentally and physically. The Huskers need to find those switches and flip them. |
